COURSE DESCRIPTION
Sure, you know how to use the computer. After all, you’ve been using it as long as you can remember. This course is designed for students looking to function at a higher level than “just getting by with the basics.” This course will give each student actual "hands-on" experience. Students will first review document formatting and then develop skills in using the microcomputer for business applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and desktop publishing.

COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
GRADING
Quarter Grades will be calculated as follows:
Formative Assessment 30%
(homework, quizzes, participation/in-class assignments, initial drafts)
Summative Assessment 70%
(unit tests, unit projects, final drafts)
Semester Grades will be calculated as follows:
18 week average 80%
Semester Exam (cumulative) 20%
Generally a perfect assignment will receive a score of 10. One full point will be deducted for omissions or accidental text additions, for each typographical error, and/or for each formatting error.
All assignments must be completed in order to satisfactorily complete the requirements of this course.

100-98 A+ 79-77 C+
97-93 A 76-73 C
92-90 A- 72-70 C-
89-87 B+ 69-67 D+
86-83 B 66-63 D
82-80 B- 62-60 D-

TEST RETAKES
Students will be allowed to re-take a test. The following are the guidelines that must be followed in order to be eligible for the re-take.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY Plagiarism and cheating are serious offenses and will not be tolerated. They may be punished by failure on exam, paper, or project. This may result in failure of the course.

COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
- Attend class sessions.
- Read the assigned chapters.
- Complete and hand in assignments on time. When an assignment is complete, proofread it carefully before turning it in. Assignments should be clearly marked with your name and activity label.
- Complete all theory and skill tests as required.
- Complete any supplemental assessments as directed by the instructor.

- Students must have all the homework for the unit turned in.
- Students must have completed and turned in the review sheet for the unit the day of the initial test
- Students must have shown reasonable effort on the original test.
- Students are allowed one re-take to be completed no later than one week after the original test has been graded and returned.
- Students must show evidence they are prepared to take the test again.
- The student will need to make arrangements with the teacher to take the test. All re-takes must be done after school.
